Frequently asked questions
Which PVC window insulates better?
Hinged and tilt-and-turn windows close against compression seals and generally insulate better than conventional sliding windows. Within our range, Softline 82 and Cortizo A 84 are among the highest-performing systems.
How long does it take to change windows?
Manufacture usually takes a few weeks after measurement, depending on the system and finish. Installation in an average flat usually takes one or two days.
Can I have the white window inside and color on the outside?
Yes. Two-tone finishes can combine white inside with anthracite grey or a wood effect outside.
Is there any help changing the windows?
Energy-renovation support schemes are available periodically. If a relevant programme is open, we can help with the technical window documentation.
How long does it take to replace windows in a flat?
Manufacture usually takes a few weeks after measurement, depending on profiles and finish. Installation in an average flat usually takes one or two days.
How do PVC and aluminium windows differ?
PVC offers strong thermal insulation and resistance to salty air. Aluminium can provide slimmer profiles. Hybrid or aluminium-clad systems combine a PVC core with an aluminium exterior.
What guarantees do you offer?
Manufacturer guarantees cover the VEKA and Cortizo profiles, and we stand behind our installation. The conditions are specified in your written quote.
Can PVC windows have insect screens?
Yes. Retractable, pleated or fixed insect screens can be considered according to the opening and available space. We confirm compatibility for each installation.
Does the subframe need replacing?
Not always. A sound, correctly aligned subframe can remain. We check its condition during measurement and specify any required work in the quote.
Can you replace windows in an occupied home?
Yes. We work room by room, close each opening on the same day and protect floors and furniture.

Replacing PVC windows is a long-term decision. This guide explains the profiles, glazing, openings and installation details we discuss during measurement visits in Alicante.
What makes a PVC window good
A good PVC window combines a suitable profile, glazing, hardware and installation. Weakness in any one of these affects the overall result.
Class A profiles under UNE-EN 12608 have thicker exterior walls. The VEKA Softline systems we install use Class A profiles.
Depth and chambers: 70, 76, 82 or 84 mm?
Profile depth determines the space available for chambers and glazing. Softline 76, with its 76 mm profile, provides a useful insulation-price balance. 70 mm systems suit tighter budgets, while 82–84 mm systems suit more demanding openings. We check the complete assembly against the project requirements.

Glass matters as much as the profile
Glazing covers much of a window’s surface. Low-emissivity glass and an argon-filled cavity improve thermal performance. Consider solar-control glass on south- and west-facing façades.
- Double glazing, such as low-emissivity 4/16/4, is a common choice.
- Triple glazing offers stronger thermal insulation where the system accommodates it.
- Acoustic laminated glass can make a major difference near traffic.
- Laminated safety glass suits locations requiring impact protection.
What influences the price of changing windows
The price of replacing PVC windows depends on dimensions, leaf numbers, profiles, glazing, finish, hardware, shutters, insect screens and the opening’s condition. We measure and provide a written quote broken down by window.
hinged or sliding opening
Hinged and tilt-and-turn windows suit openings with enough inward clearance. Sliding PVC windows save space near furniture, narrow balconies and terrace exits. High-performance sliding and lift-and-slide systems improve on conventional sliding insulation.
Don't forget the roller shutter boxes.
An old hollow shutter box can admit air, noise and heat. Replacing the window without addressing the box may limit the improvement. We offer insulated VEKA and Cortizo boxes for manual or motorised shutters.
Signs your windows need attention
- Condensation or mould around the frame or glazing.
- Draughts and dust entering with the window closed.
- Street noise with the windows shut.
- Sliding sashes that are hard to move or do not close properly.
- Rooms that overheat in summer.
- Single glazing or old double glazing without a low-emissivity coating.
