Reduce direct summer sun
Exterior shading intercepts sunlight before it heats the glass. On south- and west-facing façades, the shutter layout and slat position can help control afternoon sun. The result depends on the exposure and how the shutters are used.
Fixed or adjustable slats
Fixed slatsprovide permanent screening, whileadjustable slats let you change the amount of light and air passing through. We discuss privacy, ventilation and the direction of the sun before choosing the configuration.
Vekasun 52 can be specified in compatible VEKA finishes to match the windows or provide a separate exterior colour.
Frequently asked questions
What should I check before fitting shutters on an apartment building?
Discuss the proposal with the owners’ association and check any applicable local requirements. The exterior colour, layout and fixing must suit the building as well as the opening.
How are louvred shutters specified for an exposed façade?
We assess the exposure and select compatible hardware, retainers and fixings. The frame and attachment to the surrounding structure need to suit the opening and installation conditions.
How should coloured PVC shutters be maintained?
Use water and mild soap for the surfaces, and follow the hardware maintenance instructions. The available exterior finishes are designed for their intended exposure; we confirm the finish for your order.
Can timber louvred shutters be replaced with PVC?
Yes, subject to the opening and any building requirements. We measure the assembly and discuss compatible colours, including wood-effect finishes.
